Celebrating at the Seashore

Last Friday we went to Will's last "Wax Museum " at his school. Later in the evening Reeder brought home a 1/2 bushel blue crabs and Edna made potato salad, and everybody came over for a "crab pickin"

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore opened late April, so we decided to celebrate our 51st anniversary dry camping at Cape Point.  Left Sunday and camped at Frisco the first night then moved to Cape Point for 2 nights.

Stopped at Pea Island on the way and while it was very windy (17-19 miles an hour) saw a few birds and Edna added Stilt Sandpiper to her life list, then on to Frisco where on the beach we saw a Whimbrel, another add to the list.

Campground at Cape Point has 180 dry camp sites and there was only 5 campers when we arrived.  Disappointed in the beaches on the National Seashore, they are mostly for off road vehicles use.  No where can you just set or walk on the beach without concern about being in jeopardy of being not seen by a vehicle.

Some of the wildlife we saw on our walks where off-road vehicles are on permitted in the marsh areas.

Returned Tuesday in time for Elizabeth’s tapping into National Junior Honor Society.  She was tapped by her cousin Abby.
