Blue Birds

Opened the hen house this morning and there was a 5 foot black snake looking for his egg breakfast.  With Edna’s help I grabbed him and into a garbage bag he went.  Was not happy on his relocation trip!!

I made 5 Blue Bird nest “boxes” and put up three.  The story behind the “nest box” is a result of going with Reeder to pick up a hive of bees spring of 2014.  The bee keeper is a person with more interested than me.  When picking up the bees I got talking to him and he showed be his shop and told me about the Blue Bird nests he had all around his property.  As we were loading the bees he offered me a nest box to take home to use as a pattern to make my own.  Will and I made the boxes over the winter and put up three to see if they would work.  All three have eggs in them and two are Blue Birds and the other one we are not sure.  These pictures are from the nest in our front yard.
